At the global level, sport plays a preponderant role, both socially and economically. Every day, the Dominican Republic has numerous athletes who develop their activities in different sports areas and who require a legal framework that guarantees their rights. It is for this reason that the Dominican constitution itself expressly includes the Right to Sports as a fundamental right that must be guaranteed by the State.

Our country has Law No. 356-05, General Sports, which establishes the principles that govern the relationship of the State with the actors involved in this important sector. Other local laws also affect the field of sports law.
